Swimming to the shore of success

Last Wednesday, September 26th, Engel & Völkers in Barcelona had the honour of celebrating a very important event within its calendar. This event took place at the North Campus of the IESE in Barcelona and included some exceptional guests, such as Borja Vilaseca and David Meca. It involved members of our 'staff' and the real estate agents of the brand, as well as those who were interested in joining our team as independent estate agents.

The Start of the Event

The event began at around 3:00 pm with the help of our nine area directors. They were in charge of explaining to those present the nine indispensable steps to achieve success as a real estate agent in a city as full of opportunities and, at the same time, as demanding as Barcelona and its surroundings. Each of them focused on a 'step' to achieve this success and, in addition, gave their personal opinions about it. It was, without a doubt, an excellent opportunity to get to know their work methodologies.

"Get to Know Me", Borja Vilaseca

After this informative talk, one of the most interesting moments of the event took place. It was a conference with the title of "Get to Know Me" developed by Borja Vilaseca, who through his personal experiences conveyed the importance of self-knowledge both on a personal and professional level. In addition, he told us about the Enneagram of Personality Strategy, which he himself used in order to achieve his life goals.

David Meca at the Closing Event

After the conference of Borja Vilaseca was over, all those present gathered on the top floor of the building to take a beautiful group photo with a drone. A small snack was also served before going to the last part of the event.

There was no doubt that the conference "Swimming to the Shore of Success" held by David Meca, the 28 times World Swimming Champion and the holder of several world records in open water, was the highlight of the evening. It was preceded by Oriol Canal, CEO of Engel & Völkers in Barcelona, who took the opportunity to summarise the talk by introducing the company's business model.

David Meca spoke at length about his experience as a professional long-distance swimmer and about the many obstacles he had to overcome in order to reach his goals. He also showed us his innermost side by revealing the personal circumstances that made him become the person he is today. Afterwards, he made a report about the way in which all this can be applied to the business world.

The Conclusion of the Event

We could not leave without celebrating the success of the event, so after the David Meca conference was over, a cocktail was offered in which all the guests had the opportunity to comment about the day.

From here we want to take the opportunity to thank Oriol Canal, Borja Vilaseca and David Meca and, of course, all the area directors who participated, as well as the real estate agents who attended the event and made it a success. We can not forget the people who organised and made this event possible, nor those who showed interest in the business model of Engel & Völkers in Barcelona. We hope they will become part of our team very soon.
