Puigcerdà Horse Fair

This event in Cerdanya, dating from the year 1270, is one of the most important in the equestrian and equine world in Catalonia and one of the first in Spain. The Puigcerdà Fair and the Catalan Pyrenean Horse Contest, formerly called Hispanic-Breton horse and now officially called CPC, Cavall Pirinenc Català, is one of the most relevant in the Pyrenees where more than 1000 horses are exhibited and the best products in this category are offered.

Autumn event in Puigcerdà

Puigcerdá is a picturesque town with beautiful landscapes that the first days of November dresses up to host the best horse breeders in Cerdanya, veterinary specialists, manufacturers of horse products and many more professionals. The exhibitions and competitions take place on the first weekend of November, in accordance with the popular fall fair, an event that has been celebrated for more than 9 centuries.

In addition, the Puigcerdà Horse Fair is a morphological contest with an exhibition of stallions, mares and foals, an award for the ranch with the best livestock and many other activities… These events are exciting and attract thousands of visitors. During the winner’s awards ceremony, joy and pride can be felt in all participants.

This fair is a great option to acquire horses with a robust morphological structure according to the lines defined for their breed. The high quality of the horses for sale attracts mainly Valencian buyers, who negotiate during the event with the breeders to later acquire a great quality horse. This event is organized by the Cerdanya Horse Breeders Association and cattle breeders in the area, being an event of great importance for their economy and the equine trade.

The area where this event takes place has more than one hectare, where more than 120 stockyards are rented for the exhibition of horses as well as for the specimens that will participate in the events. In addition, in the surroundings of the enclosure and throughout the town, market stalls are placed where you can buy the best veterinary products for horses and stands with local and artisan products as well as multiple gastronomic proposals to captivate all visitors.
