Sources say that the origins of carnival as we now know it date back more than 5,000 years, and some believe that it was related to the Roman Empire due to its connection to Saturnalia, a celebration held in honor of the god Saturn. Others put it in Greece because they also held similar celebrations in which Dionysus and others were venerated.
Carnival is one of the most popular and expected events of the year. From the smallest to the not so young, it is a time of color and joy. From original costumes made for a whole year to homemade last-minute costumes, the carnival has become a fun and expected party.
