Real estate agents & social media content – Benoît Duchatelet shows how well the two go together

Sharing posts, getting likes, gaining leads – being active in social media is still new territory for many real estate agents. Not so for Benoît Duchatelet: The french agent is a real social media professional and has excellent digital networks. Reason enough for us to introduce Benoît Duchatelet and show you what makes him so successful in social media.

- Social media content is becoming increasingly important for the real estate industry. Our real estate agent Benoît Duchatelet provides exciting insights.

Social media content: A must for real estate agents

It's no coincidence that Benoît Duchatelet, a former member of IDRAC Business School, has thousands of follower on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Co. Before becoming a team member of Engel & Völkers Paris in June 2017, he founded a digital communications agency in 2011. "It was only through the professional use of social networks that I began to use them privately," the social agent explains, adding: "I think it is essential for the value of an employer brand to develop a digital editorial strategy with images, texts and videos.” There is no denying that Benoît Duchatelet is successful in this endeavor: The real estate agent is represented on all important platforms and regularly provides his readership with fresh content. It is remarkable that the french agent does not strictly separate his private and professional channels. Photos from the recent Engel & Völkers event are lined up next to the pictures from his last motorcycle trip or - quite typical for social media - the perfectly arranged dinner.

Online Networking via Instagram and Co.

The real estate agent always presents all this from his own, subjective perspective. This becomes particularly striking when you look at Benoît Duchatelet's Instagram profile, on which he has created a very individual imagery: "I put filters on my photos, use image formats and colours that are easily recognised by my network.” The digital signature that Benoît leaves with his authentic images makes Instagram one of his most successful social platforms, alongside Facebook and Twitter. Nevertheless, the real estate agent admits there is always room for improvement: "There is still no final editorial strategy for these networks in terms of sales and employee recruitment. However, for Benoît there is hardly any alternative to the professional advantages that come from the use of social media. Especially the possibility to measure the interaction with his readers and to use the social networks for a professional appearance are of central importance for him. In this way, the real estate agent has already been able to win customers via social media.

Between a farming area and Facebook

Despite his success, anyone who thinks that Benoît spends a large part of his working day on social media is wrong: "After taking my daughters to school at 8:30 a.m., I like to take the time to talk to the people in my farming area, which is in the immediate environment of my home. Always with him on his forays: an electric unicycle with Engel & Völkers lettering. The recognition value is also important for the real estate agent in the analogue world. Benoît then goes to Engel & Völkers' Paris Market Center, creates his list of to-do, answers emails from customers and organises his work week - just like many other real estate agents do. Equally typical of the job is the willingness to become active in the evening hours: "That is when I usually go to property tours or join a networking event," Benoît reports. Being connected is not only important for real estate agents in the digital world.

Benoît Duchatelet is not alone in his success. Other Engel & Völkers real estate agents such as Nikole Ferrari also show that it pays off to be active on social media.
