A new neighbourhood opens to the south of Madrid: San Blas

Gone are the days when San Blas was considered one of the worst neighbourhoods in Madrid. Thanks to the heavy investments in the area and the efforts made by the residents who live there, it has become one of the most sought-after neighbourhoods in southern Madrid when it comes to finding a home. After all, it can be affirmed that it has everything from commercial and leisure areas to strong industries.

Buying a house in San Blas means you will be living in more than just a neighbourhood or small town. In fact, the whole district has a population of no less than 150,000 people. However, thanks to the wide expanse of land that it occupies, this does not mean that it is overpopulated. Even though it is possible to contemplate large buildings towers, there are also properties of much smaller size and even single-family houses.

Considering that buying a house in Madrid is becoming more complicated due to the strong demand, San Blas is an even more interesting district. It has several residential areas in which middle and upper-class families live, such as Simancas, probably the buyers' most favourite area as well as those interested in residing in southern Madrid.

For its part, it should not be forgotten that industrial sectors are flourishing around the district and as a result, they are giving it a new economic boost. In general terms, these are concentrated in Julián Camarillo and Hermanos García Noblejas.

Buying a house in San Blas is also a very convenient decision for all those who consider themselves to be sport lovers. This is mainly due to the fact that within the territory of the district itself the stadium of La Peineta and, of course, all the sports facilities that were built during Madrid's run up for hosting the Olympic games are located.

While it is true that the stadium is closed and has been out of use since 2004, as of September of this year, it will be the chosen venue for Atletico Madrid to play their official matches. This event will hopefully attract even greater business activity to the neighbourhood. The sporting event is no doubt another attraction for those who want to buy a house in San Blas.

So, if you are thinking about buying a house in the middle of a quiet and peaceful residential area in Madrid, just take a look at Engel & Völkers' property catalogue in the neighbourhood of San Blas.
