How to decorate a rental flat

Decorating a rental flat may prove to be a slightly more difficult task than doing the same with a purchased home. After all, it is normal for us not to spend the rest of our lives in that property, so we are more reluctant to spend big money on furniture. However, it is not necessary to spend a lot of money on decoration in order to suit our tastes. Here we are going to give you a few ideas that can be very useful.

1. The walls

If you have spent some time living in a rental property, sooner or later you will have to paint its walls. It is best to opt for white paint as this is a neutral colour with lots of options. However, you can also ask your landlord if you can paint the walls in a soft yellow or pastel colour for greater identity.

2. The hallway

The hallway is the first thing visitors see when they come to your home and, therefore, you have to try to give it a personal touch. It is best to opt for a small sideboard with a matching lamp and, if you think fit, a large mirror that makes the place look wider. In addition, a mirror can serve to give the finishing touches to your appearance before leaving home.

3. The corridors

Pictures are always the smartest choices for decorating the hallway. This is mainly due to the fact that, in most cases, they are very cheap to buy, they say a lot about our personality and, moreover, they can be comfortably packed away when making a move. Pictures that have positive messages and famous quotations are very fashionable.

4. The living room

The living room's purpose should be to create a warm and welcoming space where you can rest or spend time in. Therefore, in case you have a dining area, place some photos of yourself and your partner on the table in frames that match the furniture. You can also opt for sofas in a minimalist, sober or Nordic style.

5. The master bedroom

Choose your own sheets and, if possible, your Nordic comforter or quilt according to your tastes and preferences. In addition, you can always choose to place a rug or install a carpet on the floor. These features add a lot of character and completely fill up the room.

6. Other bedrooms

Carpets also look exceptionally well in the rest of the property's bedrooms. In fact, they are especially useful if you have children, since carpets will give them a space to play on and have fun without being in direct contact with the ground. Also do not forget to choose some matching curtains to give a touch of colour to the room.

Following these simple tips will not cost you anything when it comes to decorating a rental flat. In fact, you will soon be able to call it home the same way you would if it were yours.
