There are so many idyllic sceneries in Madrid that it seems impossible to name just 5 of them. The following beautiful autumn landscapes are a natural spectacle and stand out for their vast beauty.
1. Castañar de el Tiemblo (Ávila)
This is one of our country's most beautiful landscapes. It is located 104 kilometres from the capital and its scenery is undoubtedly highly privileged. The emergence of tall centenary trees like "the grandfather of the forest", which are more than ten metres high, and "El Chozo", is striking. Right at the doorstep of this region, there is a recreational area to park the car and take a walk along a trail that leads to Majalavilla. The must-visit sights here are the great chestnut tree and the meadows of Garganta de la Yedra.
2. Hayedo de La Pedrosa or Riofrío de Riaza
This corner of great beauty is just over an hour's walk from Madrid. To get there, it is best to go up to the port and walk along the path. This beech forest is endowed with steep slopes containing different birch, oak, yew, holly and rowan trees. It is possible to have a picnic in the forest that's full t centennial oak trees and beautiful meadows, where you can find the Virgin of Hontanares' sanctuary. Thrill seekers and adventure lovers can also enjoy the ascents to Pico del Lobo and visit the surrounding villages.

This park is simply magical. It is located about 165 kilometres from Madrid and is distinguished by its 300-year-old centenary trees. In this area you can see trees that reach 40 metres in height and it is possible to get there by taking the two alternative circular routes (Carretas and Robledal), and even cycle until you reach the Zarzas River. The scenery in autumn is impressive, with its many colours, edible mushrooms growing on the ground and the animals that pass by or run through its meadows, including: golden eagles, wild boars, foxes and roe deer.
4. Hayedo de Montejo de la Sierra
Another beautiful autumn landscape is this beech forest, declared a National Site of Interest. It is located about 90 kilometres from Madrid and a short distance from Jarama River. The route can be followed through a walking trail of approximately one hour. You can find incredible trees with twisted trunks that are 400 years old. Many animal species live in this 250-hectare beech forest, such as roe deer, wild boars, foxes as well as a wide variety of tree species including birch, heather and mountain ash.
5. Sabatini Gardens
Madrid is unique for many reasons and the wonderful Sabatini Gardens are part of a classicist space that you should not miss visiting. It is a romantic and magical place with the Royal Palace in the background and a large sample of white marble neoclassical sculptures, fountains that surround the magnificent rectangular pond located in the centre, flowerbeds and imposing cedars. These gardens are not just spectacular during the day as they also shine at night.
