On Wednesday, 21 June, the sun on the northern hemisphere reaches the summit of its annual orbit. From this point onwards, the number of daily solar hours decreases, the sun's energy fades, the days become shorter. Summer has almost reached its peak when it has began. Many people cultivate old traditions and diverse customs. In some countries, the shortest night of the year is celebrated on 21 June, in others the St. John's Day is on 24 June. In the "Noche de San Juan" from the 23rd to the 24th of June, residents of seaside villages celebrate with friends or their family at the beach. At midnight many people jump into the sea to celebrate the summer turn.
Depending on the village, there are different customs in Spain, but everywhere there is the sacred fire of Saint John, which is also called Hogueras de San Juan. Not only fire, but also fireworks play has a special role in this magical night.
Friends and family meet on 23.6. in the evening - on the beach ... With candles, torches and picnics, theycelebrate this magic night at the sea.
