Every year, thousands of people are waiting for the official switch-on of the Christmas lights in San Pedro de Alcántara, known as the “Inauguración del alumbrado de Navidad de San Pedro de Alcántara”. The city hall of San Pedro de Alcántara has announced in a press conference that the official day this year will be November 30th, in which 90 streets will be shining for almost 40 days.
The activities include 6 zambombas in different points of San Pedro Alcántara such as Calle Potera, Rafael Alberti, Pablo Ruiz Picasso, Marqués del Duero, , Plaza de los Enamorados and Juan Illesca Pavón. In addition, on December 26th and January 3rd, there will be several parades that will join the Cabalgata de Reyes and the inauguration, with the aim of animating the center of San Pedro.
Another really fascinating attraction of this festive event is the giant 12 meters diameter bauble in the Marqués del Duero Street counting more than 70.000 light bulbs. This attraction includes sound and light shows every day starting 6.30PM.
