How real estate Advisor Jennifer D. Holmes helped her client relocate to Texas

A popular saying in the USA is that everything is bigger in Texas. It is therefore fitting that one of the latest deals from our real estate advisor Jennifer D. Holmes meant not just one, but two premieres: For both the real estate advisor and her client Jaleesa Parker, relocating to Dallas, Texas this was the first deal via Engel & Völkers

However, it was a long way to get there: more than 1,500 kilometres between old and new property made the property search, viewing appointments and meeting deadlines for moving out a real challenge. You can read in our interview how Jennifer D. Holmes removed the stumbling blocks for her client and how they experienced the road to their new home:

Ms. Parker, how did you become aware of Engel & Völkers?

J.P.: I recently accepted a new position with my company which required me to move from Gary Indiana to the Dallas Fort Worth area. Being that I had never been in Texas before moving here it was very difficult for me to secure an area that had a nice school for my kids and the amenities I was used to. One of my friends recommended Jennifer Holmes and I instantly reached out to her on Instagram

What were your expectations regarding the process of finding a home in Texas?

J.P.: Upon our first interaction Jennifer was very welcoming, she was easy to talk to and she could relate to making the transition from state to state. I gave Jennifer the list of things that I needed and she made it happen.

J.D.H.: Relocation can be challenging. I have moved between states three times in my life and there are a lot of moving parts. I knew that this would require a lot of attention to detail on my part and that communication with Ms. Parker was going to be very important.

What challenges did you face during the search process?

J.P.: I was only able to fly in town once before I officially moved in and she had everything lined up, making it so much easier for me.

J.D.H.:  Jaleesa had a very limited time frame to find a place to call home. I work to communicate with my clients heavily about their needs and lifestyle ahead of their visit and really try and learn as much about them as I can.  This helps to narrow the choices down to ones that will fit in best with their everyday life.

Mrs. Holmes, how do you proceed to find the perfect property for your clients?

J.D.H.: The majority of my clients are referred to me by friends and past clients or they locate me as they’re searching for a real estate professional via social media. The first step is to have a buyers or sellers consultation where I gather information to assess how serious and ready the potential clients are to buy or sell. I also answer any questions they may have and discuss whether we are mutually a good fit to partner together to accomplish their real estate goals.

When do you know that the property suits the customer?

J.D.H.: Community is something that is important to me. The understanding that I don’t just help individuals to buy and sell homes but that I have the unbelievable opportunity to help build communities fuels my approach. Taking the time to speak with the people I am working with, learning about their lifestyle and daily activities and interest aides me in being able to find a home that fits in with every facet of their life that will be more than just a place where they will sleep at night.

Which object was ultimately convincing?

J.D.H.: A home in a community that compliments the everyday life of my clients the most will be the one they choose to call home. When someone moves, be it to a different state or just across town, what will their commute to work be like? They may have to find new places to grocery shop, have their car serviced, get their hair cut, and dry cleaning done. If they have children, where will they go to school, how close is the school, are there activities for children in the area?

These are all very important factors to consider when choosing a home. Communication with my clients is key to answering these questions and many others to move towards finding the perfect place to call home.

J.P.:  I am so happy with the home that I chose, it's close to the school that my kids attend and it has all the amenities that we need.

How did you both feel about the deal?

J.P.: Working with Jennifer has been great. I would recommend her to anyone I know who is looking for an apartment, rental property, house, moving from state to state. Since me and my family have been settled in our new place, Jennifer is still going out of her way making sure we are comfortable, she's recommend family events, social activities and great places to grab a bite to eat. I gained a new home in Grand Prairie and a new friend in Jennifer.

J.D.H.: There is a saying to treat your first like your last and your last like your first. Keeping the same energy and intensity with every transaction is paramount. I have been in the industry for a few years now, but completing my first deal with Engel & Völkers was a magnificent feeling!
