How to prepare for an interview in english

Nowadays, when one looks for a new job, it has increasingly become common to face the personal interview in English. If you do not know how to deal with this prospect, it can can be a challenge to overcome. However, by following the appropriate guidelines, you can turn the tables in your favour and get hired. Here we will explain how to prepare yourself so that everything goes perfectly.

1. Practice in front of the mirror

The first thing you should do is get information about the company that has called you for the personal interview and then create in English some answers to the most common questions in this regard, such as "What do you know about our company?" Or "Why do you want to work with us?". Likewise, prepare your personal and professional references so that the words come out of your mouth in a more natural and fluid way.

2. Show interest

It is important that, during the interview in English, you show interest about the company in question. For this, there is nothing better than taking advantage of specific opportunities to say "I'm really impressed by your line of products" ("I'm very impressed with your product line") or something similar. You can also take advantage to praise their website or make a comment about their product line.

3. Be relevant and concise

Try to provide reliable and accurate information about your experience and your training during the interview. You may have a good command of the English language, but the truth is that job interviews are tense moments that make you susceptible to making mistakes. The more concise and brief you are, the less chance there is to make a mistake.

4. Be confident in yourself

Another important aspect in an English language interview is self-esteem. In this language, it is even more important than in Spanish to give a strong answer to each question in order to resolve the interviewer's doubts. Also at this point, prepare the answer for the question about why you should be considered as the perfect candidate for the job. They will most likely choose you if you give the best answer.

5. Show your gratitude

Once the interview is over, thank the interviewer since this is something very common in the Anglo-Saxon countries. In fact, if your interviewer is a native English speaker, then your gratitude will be especially of importance. Also, this will show that you are familiar not only with their language, but also with their customs. Every little detail can make all the difference in whether you get chosen or not.
