Magical places in the Valencia Community to visit this summer

With the arrival of good weather and summer temperatures, now is the ideal time to discover new and charming places. In the Valencian Community, there are many ideas.

1. Salinas de la Mata and Torrevieja

This natural park in Alicante is a place not to be missed. It offers the visitor a simple walking route, with all types of trees, picnic areas, bird watching, and landscape views along the way. 

The route of this place starts from the parking lot of the Visitor Centre at Lagunas de la Mata and Torrevieja Natural Park, in the hamlet of La Mata (Torrevieja, Alicante). It is easily accessible by car. 

As we have said before, the views are the strategic points, which allow you to visualise the area, its fauna and vegetation.

2. Botanical Garden

Well-known for its extensive collection of plants, the Botanical Garden offers tourists and visitors more than three thousand species of trees and different plants, whose origin is from all over the world, from five continents.

The Botanical Garden belongs to the University of Valencia, created in the sixteenth century for the teaching of botany. Its collection of palm trees and tropical trees is the highlight of this place.

3. Albufera

The Valencian Albufera is a freshwater lagoon, which is separated from the sea by an area of ​​land. It is also referred to as "the little sea".

Albufera is regarded as a highly important lagoon for the environment. You can find species that are in danger of extinction. It is formed by six little islands that are full of leafy vegetation.

It is located ten kilometres to the south of Valencia. With an extension of 24 square kilometres, you can find more than two hundred square kilometres of rice fields there.

4 Palacio Cervelló

This was an ancient Gothic palace, which was renovated in the 16th century to become a family residence. At the beginning of the 18th century it was known as the Palace of the Count of Cervelló.

The structure of the palace is characterised by a central three-storey building with balconies, surrounded by two square-shaped towers on four levels.

Along the whole facade there is a strip, what could be called a sill, decorated with vases.

On the second floor, there is an exclusive area called, Municipal Archive.

5. Columbretes Islands

This is an archipelago with many unique characteristics as well as a high ecological interest.

The Columbretes Islands are formed by four groups of islets that form a total of 19 hectares emerged on the sea. The highest point of the archipelago is on Faro Mountain.
