Mediterranean Festival, concerts and opera

The Palace of the Arts Queen Sofia (Palacio de las Artes de La Reina Sofía) is once again hosting the most unique event of its kind: The Festival del Mediterrani (Mediterranean Festival), where music lovers can enjoy a show full of concerts, operas and much more.

After his controversial departure from the city of Valencia, various local media sources say that the master conductor and former president of the festival Zubi Mehta is back in style to blend his creativity with the art director Davide Livermore to achieve a level of delight and unique entertainment for all art lovers.

Great efforts

Despite the large number of economic cutbacks, the change of artistic direction and other eventualities, the Government and the Ministry of Culture have made many efforts to offer a broad lineup of artists.

The Festival del Mediterrani (Mediterranean Festival) has been held for seven editions since the opening of Teatro de la Ópera (Valencia's Opera Theatre), which was inaugurated in 2005.

An appointment with art

In this artistic event not only can you enjoy many performances from musicians such as those in Orquesta Sinfónica (Symphony Orchestra of Valencia), but also appreciate different types of conferences and film premieres and more.

The media has published names like Plácito Domingo programme, different movie billboards, documentaries, photography, exhibitions, dance, ballet and most anticipated: the alleged return of Mehta, who was the mastermind behind the festival until 2014, when for various reasons he changed his work direction and gave up his chairmanship.

Room for all

With its wide variety of shows, the festival is perfect for the whole family, regardless of age or sex, one must be willing to open your mind to truly appreciate what art is.

The main hall in the theater has a seating capacity of 1481, 400 seats in master classes, 1500 seats in the auditorium and 400 seats in Martin and Soler, so almost 4000 people have space to be part of a week-long party.

National commitment

As a strategy to avoid money wastage, many of the productions will be locally generated and co-produced with other theatres and establishments. This is the main foundation to save money. The future vision is to invest at least 200 thousand euros in order to boost the quality of the festival.

From the highest artistic level, the Festival del Mediterrani (Mediterranean Festival) is an invitation to live the most unique experience of its kind so that you can feel the power of art connecting you to your senses.
