Plants are for winter too

Some people believe, quite wrongly, that plants are only used as decoration features during spring and summer. However, plants are also great for winter because they are very effective in bringing a touch of joy and colour to any environment.

It is true that plants require extra care in order to be able to survive the coldest time of the year. If you love plants, then this shouldn't pose any problems, especially if you follow the advice that we are offering below:

1. Place the plants as close to each other as possible so that they do not dry out.

2. Never place the plants near your heating appliances as this may cause them to dry out. Also, use humidifiers and dishes with water to maintain a correct level of humidity.

3. Put the plants near windows so they can receive as much sunlight as possible. Just be careful with the cold air that can enter through the windows.

4. If you opt for indoor plants, keep in mind that they need less watering than outdoor plants.

5. Cover the soil in the pot with a cloth or plastic to prevent the roots from freezing and dying out during frost.

6. Regarding outdoor plants, put them in a sheltered place away from the wind and not too low near the ground as to avoid the effect of frost. Provided you have no choice but to place them on the ground, it is best to put them on a wooden block or a plate, This useful technique will work effectively.

7. Regarding irrigation, during winter, it is best to keep the watering times short otherwise too much water can accumulate and freeze overnight thus causing the roots to rot.

8. In case you have exotic plants, even if they are outdoors, never leave them outside the home if they are not prepared for the cold.

9. If the plants flower during winter, cover them with plastic but be very careful so not to crush the flowers. Also, be sure to leave room for them to breathe.

Following these simple tips that we have just given in this article, you can be sure that your plants will look radiant in winter and will help you put that touch of vitality that your home needs during this time of the year. In this way, when spring arrives and they start experiencing some warmth, they will grow very quickly and look even more radiant than the previous year.
