Ruzafa, the Valencian Soho

Cities like Valencia, one of the most important capitals of Spain, do not stop to modernise and advance. Proof of this is that, from time to time, new areas emerge that become fashionable due to the increase in their cultural attractiveness. This is exactly what Ruzafa, the new Valencian 'Soho', has been experiencing in recent times.

The first thing to say is that Ruzafa has undergone a process of extensive renewal that has enhanced its aesthetic appeal. In addition, by tradition, it has always been one of the most multicultural enclaves of the capital of Turia. If we add to this cocktail the calm and gentle character of the people in the city, we will get a reasonable explanation for its strong current pull.

Undoubtedly, the heart of Ruzafa is its excellent market. In fact, this is the epicentre of commerce in the neighbourhood since it is supplied with all the commercial premises that operate there. This ensures that, in the case of bars and restaurants, all the ingredients come from the local produce. This is obviously something to be proud of when selecting the food menus.

However, the best is yet to come. After long years of waiting, the district of Ruzafa is already prepared to receive the jewel of the crown that longs for: Central Park. In particular, it is a huge green space based on the design of New York's Central Park. Undoubtedly, it promises to become one of the main green lungs of the city and in a space that will energise and give greater attractiveness to the excellent atmosphere there.

Regarding the leisure offer of Ruzafa, it must be said that this is really wide and varied. In gastronomic terms, the restaurants, Canalla Bistró, Copenhagen and Nozomi, which specialise in typical dishes from Valencia but also from other regions of the world, take the lead. Likewise, at the Ubik Café and at the Bartleby bookstore it is always great to enjoy a pleasant reading time accompanied by a glass of wine.

We should not forget that this neighbourhood wastes no time on art and culture. In fact, it has several important exhibition halls, such as the Sala Russafa and the Espai Tactel. On the other hand, those who like to relax with a coffee or a drink with their friends, can do so at the Café Berlin and Dulce de Leche.

All in all, there is no doubt that Ruzafa is the new 'SoHo' in Valencia.
