In Valencia is located The largest urban park in Spain is located in Valencia. This park extends to nine kilometres with more than one hundred hectares of land. It is called, Jardín del Turia or the Garden of Turia.
The 1957 floods at Turia River caused the deaths of more than one hundred people. In 1958, Consejo de Ministros or the Council of Ministers authorised the construction of a new waterway at the mouth of the river. By 1973, the re-directed water channel began to flow through the river without any further disasters. In Jardín del Turia, there are various floral landscapes as well as palm trees, pines, orange trees, roses, and sport tracks.
A perfect location
This immersed park is bordered to the west of Cabecera Park and Bioparc and to the east with the City of Arts and Sciences. Along its route, there are other very interesting landmarks including a huge park called, Gulliver, with slides for children. In addition, there is the Palau de la Música, which offers annual concerts for all types of audiences.Valencia is quite a flat city and therefore, these Jardines del Turia form an ideal space for running enthusiasts or cycling fans. Along the way, there are different bars and cafes to have a coffee or drink with your friends.
