1. The paella

Paella is no doubt the most typical dish of the Valencian lands. The problem comes when people start to innovate and add ingredients such as peas or potatoes. That, gentlemen, is rice with things. The true Valencian paellas accompany the rice with rabbit, chicken, bachoquetas and snails.

2. Barracas and gardens

Vicente Blasco Ibanez is probably the best example of what it was like in the full garden. Reeds, mud, paddy fields and orchards and boats. All that adorned barracks, such as traditional houses with triangular roofs that currently adorn part of the coast and make the small museums function, charming restaurants and homes of older farmers in the area.

3. Fireworks

A celebration is not a true celebration without fireworks. The Valencians have a fondness for gunpowder. Fireworks for parties ; traca for baptisms, weddings and communions ; or traditional mascot to announce a goal Levante CF Valencia CF goal or at night.

4. Fallas and falleros

Do you love gunpowder ? In fallas there is a lack of control that lasts a whole week , waking everybody up. The question is to burn something, from firecrackers to the spectacular fireworks or ninot at Fallas monuments. The last three days of the festival in the centre celebrates Virgen de los Desamparados, where the falleros and falleras will offer traditional bouquets in galas.

8. Moors and Christians

These festivals are celebrated by the various municipalities in the province at different times of the year , commemorating the recapture period where the Hispanic kingdoms and Christians claimed dominion over the lands occupied by the Mohammedans. It is not unusual to find representations of battles in the street. Being part of a stooge , both as a Christian dweller, is an honour.

9. Horchata

The horchata is a symbol. Whether natural or manmade, this white drink made from tiger nuts is the traditional Valencian territory. Ideally, take the metro to Alboraya , the land of the horchata , accompanied by the famous fartones.

10. Valencia's water

Drinking water from the tap in the Valencian houses is a mistake, and that is a fact that every resident knows. However, the famous Agua de Valencia is a cocktail that is drank at parties.

11. The Miguelete

There is no shop that doesn't sell typical gifts such as a fridge magnet with the figure of El Miguelete, the famous cathedral bell tower, which receives thousands of visitors each year, since its highest point in the city was contemplated.

13. The Plaza Redonda

A typical Valencian tradition is to go to Redonda plaza on subdays. This emblematic city square is crowded with people and markets of all kinds, from animals to changing cards.

14. Humidity

One of the typical things is that in winter one can not completely keep out the cold , and in summer it feels like not enough air is coming through while you sweat as if you had run a marathon. This is the typical humidity of the Valencian region, given its proximity to the sea. However , the good weather is almost permanent and inviting enough to enjoy the surroundings.
