Valencia's most iconic streets

History, modernity, tranquillity, amenities ... There are many factors that can be taken into consideration when determining the most exclusive streets of Valencia, a city which is only surpassed by Madrid and Barcelona in terms of price per square metre. In this article, we have reviewed the most emblematic streets of the capital of Turia, the most authentic roads as far as the residential market is concerned, both to rent and to buy.

If we had to highlight one iconic street above all others, it would certainly be the Calle Colón. This ancient trade route always features in the highest positions of any ranking of the most expensive streets in Spain, alongside other major thoroughfares, such as Preciados and Serrano in Madrid and Passeig de Gràcia and Portal del Angel in Barcelona. The Calle Colón connects the Plaça de la Porta de la Mar and Plaza de Toros of the city, and it is the location of major brands like Apple and El Corte Ingles and prestigious jewellers.

In any case, the attractions and the extensive public transport connections make this historic centre a focal point of the luxury real estate market. Sant Vicent Màrtir is another example; this street connects the Plaça de la Reina and the Tower of Micalet around the Plaça de l'Ajuntament, and is an area of great cultural significance, especially during the annual Fallas in Valencia. Jorge Juan, Xativa or Conde Altea are other streets in the old town that deserve to be included in this list of iconic streets.

The Gran Vía is another avenue that does not deserve to be overlooked, although, if we are talking primarily about high-end local apartments, the area should be narrowed to Marques del Turia and mainly Germanías. Its central boulevard and its wide range of shops and restaurants make this an area that is sought by the most discerning tenants.

Those who are looking for a tranquil green oasis in the city centre, however, are often drawn to the Alameda. One can walk from the Plaza de Zaragoza to the Royal Gardens via the Garden of Turia, and the area offers comfortable solutions for residential customers with the highest expectations.

Less central, but no less important, is the Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas, in the north of the city. One of the most extensive avenues in Valencia, its proximity to the beautiful and historic buildings of the Palacio de los Congresos is an added bonus for those who live in the penthouses, which enjoy spectacular views. The same applies to the area of the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, especially around the nearby Avenida de Francia.

Another interesting option for lovers of urban quality apartments could be the Ruzafa neighbourhood, an area that has experienced a recent and thorough renovation. The symbol of the area is undoubtedly the trendy Ruzafa Market.

Avenue Blasco Ibanez, located in the remote western part of the Ciudad Universitaria district, has a wealth of real estate possibilities. One of the avenues running perpendicular to this is Aragon, also among the most well-known, because at one end of the avenue is the Mestalla stadium, home of Valencia CF. There is an expansion project in the air, which would extend Blasco Ibañez to the Malvarrosa beach, and this would add even more appeal to this iconic road. Similarly, the area near the Marina Real Juan Carlos I and the city's harbour has also been recently redeveloped and consolidated as an exclusive place of leisure in Valencia, and potentially a future property hotspot as far as the housing market is concerned.
