Winning mentality in a sales team

What is the key to successfully leading a sales team? Undoubtedly, the answer is the winning mentality. And when the leader possesses this and is able to transmit it to those who work under his orders, the human resources dept. gets optimised and it is easier to reach the objectives in less time. However, not everything is as simple as it seems. It is, therefore, necessary to follow a series of fundamental aspects to achieve this.

1. The team comes first

It is clear that, on certain occasions, individualism can be positive. Despite this, in the long run, the collective is what is imposed. Therefore, we must always try to give cohesion to the group, for which it is imperative that the members have an equitable and fair remuneration. Of course, it should be added a variable that rewards both the work of the group and the individual.

2. Clearly set goals

In the world of sales, it is essential to set quantitative goals, ie achievable, stimulating, measurable and accurate goals. With regard to these objectives, the perception of the role that each member of the group has is of vital importance.

3. Emphasise consistency

Usually, results do not arrive overnight and, therefore, it is necessary to emphasise on a realistic timeline from the start. In fact, it is necessary to establish a series of actions and rules that will ensure the completed project will be delivered on time. It may seem that 'sales camouflage everything', but the truth is that a bad 'praxis' in the present will lead to detrimental results in the future.

4. Create a strategy

A strategy has to be set from the start, which will guide the staff in the long term. For this, it is important to equip the sales team with the training they need in order to follow the instructions. In addition, it is advisable to establish a strategy for determining how the work should be done.

5. Find talent

A good leader must know how to identify talent. In this sense, we do not mean that you find that amazing candidate who is capable of selling anything, but look for the qualities that each employee has and are not visible to the naked eye. Finding a talented employee is the key to better company performance as well as greater individual performance.

6. Be passionate

It is impossible to make any progress in your career if you don't have the passion or love for the work that is being performed. In addition, these feelings are contagious. If the leader feels dispassionate, their employees may also feel the same.
