Alfieri is often pronounced in Asti, but what do we really know about this famous Italian poet and writer? Through this question, our Mayor Maurizio Rasero begins to introduce "Buon Compleanno Vittorio: Homage to Vittorio Alfieri" which will take place during the month of January on the occasion of the anniversary of his birth.
In this regard, the mayor explains: "Vittorio Alfieri is not only one of the symbols of the city of Asti, but also a brand that must be strengthened and promoted. With this in mind, this initiative is born, that through the word, theater and music wants to bring the public closer to his figure and his language, which offers more access keys than what is commonly thought, and can be understood and appreciated by all ".
The show is produced by the Gabriele Accomazzo Foundation for the Theater, within the project "Fortissimamente Alfieri 2017 the journey continues", which wants to give continuity to the Alfieri activity that has already seen the success of critics, public and number of replicas of the preparation of the tragedy Antigone, which had debuted in 2016 at the Teatro Alfieri on the occasion of the birthday of the poet coming from Asti.
"Buon Compleanno Vittorio" will open its celebration,Tuesday, January the 16 at 21 at the Teatro Alfieri with the representation of "Ottavia and Nero", directed by Marco Viecca and starring Chiara Buratti (Ottavia), Marco Viecca (Nerone), Daniela Placci ( Poppea), Valentina Veratrini (Seneca) and Diego Coscia (Tigellino).
In this Alfieri tragedy Octavia is condemned to death by her tyrant husband, for guilt never committed: the only fault of Octavia is to obstruct the plans of Nero, who wants to marry his lover Poppea. Nerone, far from the duties of governing, takes refuge in the rooms of his palace, dedicating himself to music, arts and Poppea. He is almost annoyed by his obligations, so as to allow Tigelline to exercise a power that goes far beyond his powers, and bears badly the advice and warnings of the old tutor Seneca. The emperor is distracted, frightened, deaf to the calls of true love that Octavia reserves him, is closed in an imaginary and perfect amusement park, in which any disturbance or disagreement must be simply eliminated: Octavia, his love, but also his very existence, for Nero, are not gifts, but impediments to his plans, to his pleasures.
Wednesday 17 the festivities will continue at Palazzo Alfieri (completely reopened this year) for the concert of the Ensemble Armoniosa which will present its new album dedicated to the Sonatas of the 18th century Asti cellist and composer Carlo Graziani.
A beginning of the year in which history, literature, art, music and food and wine excellence make Asti a city to discover, visit, know and appreciate!
