Blue Flags: Tuscany wins the second place

Once again in 2019 FEE rewards the seaside villages part of the province of Grosseto as models of sustainable tourism

Blue Flag, established in 1987 during the European Year of the Environment, is assigned every year by the NGO Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in 49 countries.

In 2019, Italy won about 10% of the most beautiful and sustainable seaside locations in the world with 72 awarded tourist locations and 183 winning villages for a total of 385 beaches.Tuscany, one of the most popular destinations in the world, wins the second place. On the national ranking, it is after Liguria - with 19 shores awarded from the Apuan Riviera to Maremma.

Awarded with the prestigious international eco-label “Blue Flag” for twenty years, in 2019 Maremma is still one of the Italian queen of the sea. In fact, four municipalities have been awarded thanks to their commitment to enhance the territory and the correct environmental policies adopted:

Follonica - Spiaggia Sud, Spiaggia Nord

Castiglione della Pescaia - Rocchette, Roccamare-Casa Mora, Riva del Sole, Capezzòlo, Ponente, Pian D’alma, Casetta Civinini-Piastrone, Punta Ala, Levante e Tombolo

Grosseto - Marina di Grosseto, Principina a Mare

Monte Argentario - Porto Santo Stefano per La Caletta, Il Moletto, La Soda, Il Pozzarello, Cala Piccola, Porto Ercole per le spiagge Le Viste, Feniglia.

Thanks to several important historical attractions, the excellent food and wine offer and its uncontaminated nature, the province of Grosseto keep attracting tourists from all over the world.
