Monte Argentario is a splendid area surrounded by the sea in Tuscany Maremma. Its majour towns are Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole.

Porto Santo Stefano is one of the most important and visited harbours in Tuscany Maremma. The long walk along the seaside is very appreciated by both tourists and locals.
One of the most representative monuments of Porto Santo Stefano is the Spanish Fortification. The fortification hosts a significant exhibition called "Memorie Sommerse" with archaeological finds rediscovered on Santo Stefano seabed.
Porto Ercole is located in the south of Monte Argentario, and it is considered one of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy.
In the oldest part of the town, there is the beautiful Church of Sant’Erasmo hosting graves of ancient Spanish rulers. Spain ruled Porto Ercole in the XVI century and built impressive fortifications. Today it is possible to visit these perfectly preserved fortifications and enjoy the breathtaking view over the sea.
Another reason for visiting Porto Ercole is its beautiful seaside and crystal clear seawater.
Tuscany Maremma is a protected land, with uncontaminated nature and wild animals.
One of the most famous natural reserve in the area is “Il Parco della Maremma” with 9.000 ha of land. Its coast extends from Principina a Mare to Talamone including important towns as Grosseto, Magliano and Orbetello.
A few steps away there is the Orbetello lagoon, with uncontaminated nature. It represents a unique habitat for exclusive types of vegetation and animals.
Monte Argentario is also extremely close to one of the most famous and most visited seaside of the entire Tuscan coast: Castiglione della Pescaia.
