Le Marche is a truffle paradise, thanks to its fertile soil extremely suitable for the growth of this product. In particular among the most adapted areas for truffle cultivation there are Acqualagna, Apecchio and Pergola, where many truffle festivals take place all year round.
Among the most appreciated ones there are the tartufo vero (real truffle), the white truffle (tartufo bianco), the spring or “martial” truffle (tartufo primaverile), the nutmeg or black truffle (tartufo nero) and the summer truffle (tartufo estivo),
available in every season since each variety ripens at different times of the year.
These “special” tubers have been being for decades part and parcel of the regional culture, economy and culinary specialties and are used to prepare typical dishes, such as the
pappardelle al tartufo (truffle pappardelle) as well as more particular products such as
truffle honey and
truffle butter. Manufactured by many local family businesses, which are dedicated with a lot of passion to the processing of this product, truffles are now marketed all over the world representing a
unique cultural heritage.
