The neighborhood takes its name from the arch of Porta Romana, built in 1596 as the main gateway to Milan, from which the road to Ancient Rome started. Together with the arch, a characteristic feature of the area are the ancient walls, built between 1548 and 1562, which at the time represented the largest wall system in Europe. Today the area is full of attractions of all kinds such as: the Tower of the Prada Foundation; the Rotonda della Besana, a green oasis within a wonderful Baroque complex; the Carcano theater; the Terme di Porta Romana, a charming spa with a view of the ancient Roman aqueduct; and the gardens of Guastalla.
Porta Romana is considered a strategic district due to its proximity to the historic center and the presence of various urban means that connect the area to the rest of the city, in particular thanks to the MM3 subway with the Porta Romana, Crocetta and Lodi stops, to the various tram and bus lines and the Milano Porta Romana train station. By 2025 the area will undergo one of the most important urban regeneration interventions in the history of Milan. The transformation will affect the entire area of the Scalo di Porta Romana (about 190 thousand square meters) where the Olympic village of the Milan Winter Games - Cortina 2026 will be built. At the end of the games, the spaces will then be converted to social housing and student housing.
The E&V Milano Porta Romana Shop was founded in 2013 and over the years has become well rooted in the reality of the area, knowing perfectly the territorial dynamics. Today Gabriele Borgnino (Office Manager) leads a team of passionate and motivated Real Estate Agents who will be able to accompany you through an area full of charm and history, in search of your new home or the right buyer for your property. In 2019 the E&V Milano Porta Romana Shop changed its house and moved to Corso di Porta Romana 123, celebrating 10 December one year after its inauguration. From a real estate point of view, the area has a strongly residential imprint. The types of construction range from wonderful late 19th century buildings, 70s / 80s buildings and new buildings from recent years. The size of the apartments is very varied, in particular there are properties with large surfaces within Area C and smaller cuts coming out of the walls. The offer consists largely of properties for sale, but the presence of Bocconi University favors the rental market.
