Padova and the Venetian Villas

In Veneto there are about 5000 wonderful villas, most of them are UNESCO Human Heritage.

The Venetian villas were built between the fifteenth and nineteenth century, during the dominion of the Venetian Republic. The Venetian aristocrats, having lived a long in the narrow lagoon land, moved their summer residences to the countryside and created real extensive estates, in which came together both the aesthetics and grandeur of the noble residences - the central unit - and the buildings necessary to the management of the surrounding estate - annex and portico buildings -.

Over time owning a villa became a fashion, spreading to such an extent that noble families spent huge wealth to build them. The building of the villa lost its rustic features, increasing in size, equaling the palaces of the city for the internal splendor; they were also enhanced by wide luxuriant gardens, where complex water games were created, to compete with international models, sometimes depleting the whole family fortune.

Imagine living in one of these treasure chests…into the magic of classicism and into the harmony among architecture, art, and landscape...this is possible today with Engel & Völkers.
