Milan and Rotterdam are the new destinations that can be reached with flights from the international airport of Umbria "San Francesco d'Assisi". On the 18th of April the first take-off for the Dutch city, with the carrier Transavia Airlines, with a frequency of twice a week, Wednesday and Saturday. From the 27th of October, and on a daily basis, the Perugian airport opens the fall season with the new Alitalia flight to Milan Linate.
This last route will allow not only to reach the city easily, but also to connect Perugia with different capitals and European centers thanks to the stopover in the Milan airport. In fact, connecting flights will serve London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Madrid, Luxembourg but also Cologne and Athens. There are also many Italian destinations reachable through the new connection with the airport at Linate, including Cagliari, Alghero, Trapani, Palermo, Lamezia Terme, Reggio Calabria and Brindisi.
The Perugia-Rotterdam flight is very important because it will allow the connection of Umbria with the second most important city of the Netherlands and seat of the main port of Europe. In the first half of 2019, 62,525 visitors from the Netherlands and 27,660 from Belgium were registered, keeping the two countries respectively in fourth and seventh place for presences in Umbria.
Flights in 2020, according to preliminary forecasts, will increase traffic by at least 50,000 passengers. The Milan Linate and Rotterdam routes are thus added to the others already active (Malta, Catania, London,Brussels, Tirana) for a total of seven flights to and from the Umbrian airport.
