For the sixth consecutive year, on 24th June San Gimignano (Siena) will be full of dancers, poets, songwriters, actors and artists of any kind, both nationals and internationals.
The scheduled event is Nottilucente, which will start at 5 p.m. and will continue until late at night with numerous shows, musicals, workshops and guided tours for children. This free entrance event, promoted by the Municipality, aims to reevaluate the beauty of the landscape: the main theme is the Wonder.
And it is exactly about ‘wonder’ that we can talk about the beautiful town of San Gimignano, which attracts tourist from all over the world. Famous for its towers that suddenly appear behind the olive trees, cypresses and vineyards, it is surrounded by medieval walls and the magnificent Tuscan countryside; furthermore, it is crossed by the Via Francigena, the famous historical itinerary. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1990, it is a little jewel-like city in the province of Siena, absolutely to be discovered.
Rich in churches, historical palaces and museums, the historical centre is characterized by the presence of several historical-artistic finds. San Gimignano is also well-known for its exquisite local products: the Vernaccia, a prestigious Italian white wine and the saffron, important since the Middle Ages for the city’s economy.
Decisively fascinating is the area in which San Gimignano is located: it is surrounded by the typical Tuscan green hills of the Val d’Elsa, in the north of the province of Siena. Crossing them, it is possible to glimpse several villas, perfect to spend a holiday or buy a luxury estate in a quiet and scenic area.
