That Barack Obama loves Tuscany was already clear last year, when he spent some days in Buonconvento, but his choice to post a photo from this holiday for his Valentine's Day wishes to his wife really surprised us. In fact, how to blame him! Tuscany is undoubtedly a very romantic place, with its breathtaking landscapes, the picturesque villages, the fairy tale views, the aromas and flavors of its cuisine.
Yesterday, on Valentine's Day, the ex president of the United States posted on his istagram profile a shot from the holiday in the province of Siena with this message to his wife: "Happy Valentine's Day, @MichelleObama. You make every day and every place better."
The photo shows the couple embracing and smiling in front of the wonderful view of the Crete senesi. As we wrote in our previous article, last year Barack Obama and his wife Michelle arrived near the small old village of Buonconvento, in Borgo Finocchieto, a property owned by the former US ambassador in Italy John Phillips, to spend some quiet days in the "Terre di Siena". During their stay, the couple visited the historic centre of Buonconvento, Siena and Florence, but they also went shopping, played golf and strolled in the countryside.
Obama stayed in a luxury villa with a stunning view of the surrounding hills, through which is easy to reach some of the magnificent medieval villages which characterize Tuscany like San Quirico d’Orcia, Pienza and Montalcino. This area, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004, offers unique and incredible sights to its visitors, who will enjoy the historical-artistic, cultural and natural wonders that those places offer.
