In the heart of the Val d’Orcia, nestled amidst hills of incomparable beauty, sits an ancient village that probably dates back to the Etruscan era, immersed in a landscape dotted with olive groves, vineyards and oak forests. San Quirico d’Orcia, with its splendid fortresses and medieval parish churches, is – in this area so famous for its stunning landscapes – one of those places that must absolutely be visited if you happen to be this enchanted territory. A considerable amount of artistic, architectural and natural patrimony makes the territory of San Quirico d’Orcia a particularly exclusive destination even within Tuscany, and it must not be forgotten that together with five other towns, San Quirico makes up a large part of the Val d’Orcia Artistic, Natural and Cultural Park.
Every year In December in San Quirico d’Orcia is held Olive Oil Festival. This year it will be 26th edition and it will take place between 7th and 9th December. The idea of celebrating extra virgin olive oil was born in 1993. The olive oil from this region is one of the best and most renowned Tuscan products in the world.
During the days of the Festival, the village will be filled with food stands where you can taste the new oil and typical dishes. Palazzo Chigi will transform into a magical place, where to live extraordinary experiences, between tradition and wonder. The halls of the Palace will welcome visitors with themed games, fairy tales, musical experiences, creativity workshops and fantastic characters. Moreover, the animation for children, every afternoon, will also invade the streets of the historic center.
There will be also awards, shows, conferences, show cooking, and street games. It will be possible to immerse yourself in nature with oil trekking, a walk in the countryside to discover the places where the precious olive oil is produced. You cannot miss it!
