2. These highlights await you with the purchase of a property in the Burgraviato

Buying a property in the Burgraviato is associated with numerous advantages for you as a new owner of a detached house, a flat or a holiday property. The Burgraviato region already stands out from the other locations in South Tyrol in terms of its climate: due to the south-facing orientation of the Etsch Valley, warm air from the Mediterranean region reaches the region for large parts of the year, which ensures particularly mild temperatures. This characteristic is exploited by winegrowers, among others, who run fertile vineyards on the Alpine slopes. The many palm trees and cypresses, usually found further south, are also typical for the Burgraviato, and especially for its centre Merano.

Primary residences and holiday properties in the Burgraviato therefore stand for a particularly high quality of life all year round, which is also underlined by the abundance of possible leisure activities in the surrounding area. Hikes, bike tours and climbing excursions through the imposing alpine landscape - for example to the Vigiljoch - always offer a high degree of variety. If you want to spend an afternoon of a special kind, you can, for example, attend a bird of prey show at Tyrol Castle, where eagles, falcons, owls and other birds of prey can be observed. During the cold season, you can enjoy a wide range of winter sports in the Burgraviato after buying a property. Skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing and more become pure pleasure on the numerous slopes in the area, such as the Merano 2000 ski area or the "obere Böden" near Plan.

From a gastronomic point of view, you can also look forward to an exquisite selection of local and international dishes when you buy a house or flat in the Burgraviato.

3. Be inspired by the different locations of the Burgraviato for purchase

The Burgraviato in South Tyrol is quite diverse in its various location options and has a lot to offer, from urban surroundings to rural idylls. Thus, all doors are open to you for the purchase of your new house, flat or holiday property in the Burgraviato.

The uppermost part of the Etsch Valley is marked by the Venosta Valley, which has a number of landmarks and sights worth seeing. One of the most striking is certainly the picturesque Reschensee lake with its church tower, which rises out of the water near the eastern shore. It is the last relic of the village of Old-Graun, which sank into the lake when the dam was built in 1949. A little further south, the Resia Pass is a popular crossing point between the Venosta Valley and the Upper Inn Valley, especially for car and motorbike drivers, as it has many serpentines with phenomenal views. In Silandro, Glorenza and many other villages in the Vinschgau Valley, numerous attractive opportunities to buy houses and flats await you!

The social and administrative centre is the city of Merano on the River Passer. Merano became internationally known during the 19th century as the summer residence of the Austrian Empress "Sissi" Elisabeth - but today Merano is also a popular holiday destination and an attractive residential area with a number of exclusive highlights. These include, for example, the famous Merano thermal baths, the historic Trauttmansdorff Castle and the Tappeinerweg with its magnificent view over the city. The elegant spa promenade along the Passer in Merano is also more than worth a visit. We have compiled further information for you on our Merano regional page.

Not to be confused with the regional name "Tyrol", the eponymous Dorf Tirol/Tirolo is located directly north of Merano. The manageable village with around 2,500 inhabitants is home to, among other things, Tyrol Castle with the South Tyrolean Museum of Cultural and Regional History, Brunnenburg Castle and Burglehen Park. Throughout the year, many cultural events take place in Dorf Tirol, for example in the form of soirées, a medieval music festival at Schloss Tirol or the "VinoCulti" event series, which is dedicated to local wine production every year. Another popular hiking destination is the Tiroler Kreuz, which offers an impressive view over the Adige Valley.

A few kilometres south of Merano is the municipality of Lana with around 12,500 inhabitants.

Here you can visit, among other things, the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with one of the largest two-part winged altars in Europe or the South Tyrolean Fruit Tree Museum. Meanwhile, the nearby "Brandiswaalweg" trail allows for dreamlike hikes through the nearby surroundings. In Lana, too, there are always attractive detached houses, attic flats and holiday properties for sale - let our estate agents advise you!

If you continue to follow the course of the Adige towards the west, you will arrive in Naturno, a municipality of just under 6,000 inhabitants, which catches the eye due to a particular density of interesting buildings. The church of St. Proculus in Naturno, for example, houses the oldest early medieval frescoes in the German-speaking world, which is particularly appealing to those interested in history. Other exciting monuments include the Romanesque Juval Castle or the Naturno hydroelectric power station from the 1960s. In addition, the Texelgruppe Nature Park is located directly above the municipality and invites you to hike, climb and explore. The Engel & Völkers real estate agent team will be happy to inform you about your current property purchase options in Naturno.

Directly opposite, on the other side of the Passer, is the similarly large village of Scena, which boasts the magnificent Scena Castle, the imposing mausoleum as the burial place for Archduke Johann of Austria and a cable car to the Tall-Hirzer hiking area. You see: The number of possible excursion and activity destinations in the Burgraviato has nothing to fear from comparison!

Whether in Merano, Tirolo, Scena, Naturno or Lana: Engel & Völkers South Tyrol always has attractive offers for sale in the Burgraviato for you. A look at the current market situation reveals more about the current conditions that await you when buying a detached house, garden flat, attic flat or holiday property locally.
