THE EXHIBITION
gathers 20 authors. 5 painters, 5 sculptors, 5 photographers, 1 videomaker, 1 ceramist, 1 perfumer, 1 couturier and 1 docu film.
Artists capable of expressing themselves with the most disparate means: from painting to underwater photography, from sculpture to video. The protagonists of this exhibition are generous men and women. Some might call it a multidisciplinary contemporary art exhibition. But this is not the main intent of its curator Aldo Premoli Who first of all summoned a handful of illuminati. It matters little whether they are extraordinary painters, sculptors, photographers or video makers. Premoli I have never thought that the activity of an Axmaster or a Coast Guard soldier engaged in the stretch of water of our Mediterranean is worth less than a work of art. The works, images, feelings that are aligned with the Noto Sea Museum arise from a collective intuition. Which involved both the institutional authorities who entrusted him with the task of creating this collective and the entire patrol of exhibitors. Il Mare sopra / il Mare sotto is born in a magical place: a watchtower thrown on a rock located further south of the Tunisian coast. IS' thanks to the combination of all these elements it was possible to build something extraordinary. In addition to the quality of the works on display, it is the place of the exhibition that makes them particularly significant: a watchtower thrown into the sea on the rock of Cala Bernardo, the most evocative place in the Marina di Noto. There are no “Sunday painters” here, but neither are useless snobs. It is an exhibition that is understandable to everyone, of all ages, wealth and social origins. Throughout the planned period, the exhibition will be accompanied by lectures held by experts from various disciplines (biology, art, philosophy) relating to the topics covered and made visible by the work of the artists present. With the extraordinary participation of the Italian Coast Guard THE ARTISTS ON SHOW: Antonio Alessandria, Francesco Bellina, Davide Bramante, Giovanna Brogna Sonnino, Giuseppe Colombo, Mariella Gennarino, Giovanni Iudice, Loredana Iurianello, Guy Marshall-Brown, Filippo La Vaccara, Alfonso Leto, Francesco Lauretta, Ignazio Mortellaro, Antonio Parrinello, Luigi Presicce, Rossana Taormina, Graziana Toscano, Alice Valenti, Giuseppe Veneziano, Giovanni Viola.
