9am - 5pm Monday to Friday
It is International Women’s Day this Friday and, as I’m sure you know, Engel & Völkers Mauritius is a female run business. We asked our director Judi Ribeiro to share her experiences as a female leader in Real Estate.
Happy International Women's Day Judi! Explain a little bit about what it’s like to run a business as a woman in 2024?
Running a business as a woman in 2024 is a dynamic journey, blending empowerment with challenges. Despite societal expectations and the persistence of glass ceilings, it offers a platform to demonstrate resilience, creativity, and leadership. Women entrepreneurs are not just participants but frontrunners, breaking barriers and driving innovation. Their diverse perspectives enrich decision-making, fostering more inclusive and sustainable business practices. In essence, it's a transformative experience, reshaping the narrative of female entrepreneurship and inspiring change in the business world.
How do you feel women are making their mark in the real estate world, a famously male dominated industry?
Women are reshaping the real estate industry with diverse perspectives, innovative strategies, and unmatched empathy. Despite historical male dominance, they excel in brokerage, development, and beyond. Their insights drive informed decisions, while innovative approaches prioritise sustainability and community impact. By challenging norms and breaking barriers, women are not only transforming the industry but also inspiring positive change and advancing gender equality.
What advice would you give to any young woman looking to start a career in real estate?
To young women entering real estate: Embrace your uniqueness, leverage your strengths, and never underestimate the power of networking. Stay knowledgeable, adaptable, and persistent. Most importantly, trust yourself and don't be afraid to take risks – they often lead to the greatest rewards!
We are so grateful to all of the wonderful women working for Engel & Völkers, take a look at our Team page on our website to get aquatinted with them all. We wish you all a Happy International Women’s Day!
