Mauritius in Bloom

Where in Mauritius can you immerse yourself in nature, learn some history, get your steps in and see some cute animals? The Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens of course!

SSR Botanical Gardens, also known as Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens, ranks among the world's finest botanical gardens, second only to London's Kew Gardens. Easily accessible from anywhere on the island, it offers guided tours and self-guided exploration options. The gardens feature remarkable attractions such as giant Victoria Amazonica water lilies, diverse palm species, captivating birdlife, and a population of adorable deer and fascinating giant tortoises.

Established in 1735 and named after Mauritius' first prime minister, the gardens have a rich history of development by various horticulturalists, notably Pierre Poivre and James Duncan. They serve as a testament to botanical diversity and historical significance in Mauritius.

Take the whole day or just a few hours to explore all the beautiful botanicals that the garden has to offer. And don't forget to bring your camera as there are plenty of amazing photo opportunities!
