The Municipality of Lagos was recently distinguished with an Honorable Mention in the contest of best practices promoted by ABAE - Blue Flag Association of Europe.
To take care of the planet we must start by taking care of our own home - "The Planet is your home" was the theme of the contest.
This contest awards and gives visibility to healthy, innovative environmental projects that involve local communities in order to mitigate climate change and seek an adaptation to the new reality. The jury was composed of five entities; the Blue Flag Association of Europe, the Portuguese Environment Agency, the Portuguese "Lixo Marinho" Association, the national responsable for Maritime Affairs / Life saving institute and the Vodafone Foundation, sponsor of the contest.
In Lagos, the results of the "Blue Flag" philosophy are very visible over the years, both in terms of land use planning and the way in which the environment is viewed and also the need to ensure the sustainability of natural resources.
This is not the first time that the Municipality of Lagos has been actively involved in actions that raise environmental awareness and education and sees its work recognized.
This year, in addition to the recognition of the ABAE, the Municipality was also honored with an Honorable Mention by the Institute of behavioral technology (INTEC) - under the M2V contest, in the environmental valuation category - Best Municipalities for Living
