Playing golf in Portugal is a memorable experience for all players and the reasons are numerous: excellent golf courses located in paradisiacal settings, a mild climate all year round and a warm welcome and hospitality for golfers. You can hardly find a more attractive destination than Comporta for a golfing holiday.

The Alentejo coast is an emerging and growing destination for golf lovers, offering a unique combination of high-quality golf courses, spectacular scenery and the serenity characteristic of this area.

The following golf courses are currently in operation:

• Tróia Golf, designed by Trent Jones Senior, has around 18 holes with a privileged view of the Arrábida mountains and the ocean

• Recently inaugurated, Dunas Golf Course was designed by architect David McLay-Kidd, creating a course unlike any other in Portugal, placing "Terras da Comporta" as a new golf destination.

• Still in a reserved use phase, as it will be officially inaugurated in 2024, we have the Herdade do Pinheirinho golf course, by VIC Properties, developed by architect Jorge Santana da Silva. It offers an 18-hole golf course with surrounding views.

• CostaTerra Golf, although a private members-only club, in Melides is fully operational with around 18 holes designed by Tom Fazio, where players can enjoy spectacular ocean views and a challenging golfing experience;

There are several tourism projects under development, further promoting the area and offering residential accommodation. Given the normal golfing season, from September to May, this will be a sought-after destination for golf lovers, helping to alleviate the seasonality of the Alentejo coast, which is traditionally a beach destination, becoming frequented all year round.

We can consider the Comporta area as a potential candidate for a golf tourist destination as it has three fully functioning golf courses, making it more challenging for golfers to enjoy their holidays.
