The success story of Engel & Völkers began in a small villa on Hamburg’s Elbchaussee. This year, the real estate company celebrates its 47th anniversary, reflecting on the milestones of the past decades, while also looking to the future. In 1977, Dirk C. Engel founded a real estate agency in Hamburg. Four years later, his friend, student Christian Völkers, became his partner. Their first joint office was located in a villa on Elbchaussee. From here, they developed a real estate company that would transform the industry from the ground up. With innovative marketing concepts and expansion strategies, Engel & Völkers broke away from the common practices of real estate agencies. Today, the company has more than 1,000 offices in over 35 countries and on five continents, where more than 15,000 professionals collaborate.
