WHO IS ELIGIBLE :

  • All third-country citizens who conduct an investment activity, as an individual business person​ 
  • Or through a company set up in Portugal or in another EU Member State and who, in addition, are stably settled in Portugal, provided these citizens fulfil the quantitative requirements and the time requirements set out by the relevant legislation, may apply for a Residence Permit for Investment. Anyone that want to be eligible for Portuguese citizenship
  • You can bring your family members, including your spouse, as well as your children (as long as they are younger than 18 at the time of application, or enrolled in studies and being supported by you). In certain circumstances, you can even bring your parents and/or in-laws, as long as you can demonstrate that you are supporting them.

REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR THE PROGRAM :

  • Making the qualifying investment 
  • Maintain the investment for a minimum period of six years
  • Being in Portugal a minimum period of 7 days during the first year, then 14 days either consecutively or intermittent, within each 2 year visa period.
  • The funds must come from outside into Portugal
  • No references in Portuguese Immigration and Schengen Services
  • No criminal record
  • A valid document for legal entry and stay in Portugal

REAL ESTATE INVESTIMENT OPTIONS :

1) Invest in real estate
  • At least €500,000 of any type of real estate and anywhere in Portugal. (Reduced to €400,000 if it’s located in a low-density area).
      2) Invest in Real Estate Rehabilitation
  • Investment in properties that are over 30 years old or are located in designated areas of urban rehabilitation, require an investment of at least €350,000 sum (property and reconstruction)
  • Reduced to €280,000 if located in a low-density area.

GOLDEN VISA TIMELINE :

Year 0

Golden Visa issued, valid for two years

Year 2

Residency permit needs to be renewed. Valid for two years

Year 4

Residency permit needs to be renewed. Valid for two years

Year 5

Both Permanent residency and Citizenship may be requested, if not GV needs to be renewed in year 6


Since 2013 were issued more than 9.254 Residence Permits and more than 15.431 issue for family members. US appears this year in the fourth position in issue per country with more than 40 Golden Visa issue.
