Vine Pair, a website specialising in wine, chose Uruguay as one of the essential destinations to visit for wine and meat lovers. A very well-kept secret, even though it is the fourth wine-producing country in South America. Tannat stands out as the most characteristic variety in the country although Albariño, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Pinto Gris from the Garzón vineyard, a spectacular winery just minutes from Punta del Este, also deserve a mention. In the area of Laguna del Sauce, the Viña Eden and Alto de la Ballena vineyards are also worth visiting.
