Wine tourism in Punta del Este

A few minutes from Punta del Este, there are many walking routes available for wine lovers. There are several options, from wine tastings and walks around wineries and vineyards, to exclusive meals.


Bodega Garzón

This renowned winery is located in the Garzón mountain ranges and has been awarded, for the second consecutive year, second place in the World's Best Vineyards 2020 contest, a competition that awards the best vineyards in the world. It was also nominated best winery in the new world in the Wine Star Awards 2018, organized by Wine Enthusiast, the prestigious magazine which specializes in the wine sector in the US. The winery offers walks around its grounds with tastings, picnics in the vineyards and exclusive meals. It also as an excellent restaurant managed by the well-known chef, Francis Mallmann.


How to get there from Punta del Este: Take Highway 10 from La Barra or Manantiales towards the east to José Ignacio. At the José Ignacio roundabout, turn left heading towards Highway 9. Drive approximately 10.5km until you arrive at the junction with Highway 9, cross the highway and continue along Camino Arco del Sol. Then, follow the signs to Bodega Garzón.

Viña Edén


Four kilometres from Pueblo Edén and 40 minutes from Punta del Este, we find the new Viña Edén winery. As well as guided walks, there is a restaurant where you can enjoy cuisine inspired by local organic products and enjoy tastings of all its wines.


How to get there from Punta del Este: From Highway 9, take Highway 12 towards Pueblo Edén. The winery is located at KM 26 before arriving at the town.

Altos de La Ballena


On La Ballena mountain range, just 15 kilometres from the coast, ocean air combines with mountain soil creating a special 'terroir'. The stony ground is favourable for the harvest of grape varieties such as Merlot, Tannat, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Viognier, which are used for a limited production of high quality wines.
