Puerta de Ángel is a neighborhood within the district of La Latina, southwest of Madrid. In La Latina and the Arganzuela district, mainly, you will find the urban park 'Madrid Río,' a green space built along an urban stretch of the Manzanares River. Puerta de Ángel is bordered, to the north, by the Casa de Campo (within the Moncloa-Aravaca district), the largest public park in Madrid, used by many athletes for running or cycling. And towards the center of Madrid, to the east, by the Centro and Arganzuela districts. From the Puerta de Ángel Metro station, it takes about 15 minutes on foot, crossing the Segovia Bridge, to reach Calle Mayor, which leads to Plaza Mayor and Sol. The Royal Palace of Madrid and the Almudena Cathedral, among many other points of tourist interest, are also located in the vicinity. The neighborhood, besides having good connections with numerous bus lines, is served by the Metro stations Puerta del Ángel, Alto de Extremadura, and Lucero on line 6. The stations Príncipe Pío (L6, L10) and Lago (L10) are also very close. By car, access to the M-30 or the A-5 highway is very easy. And, of course, we find all the shops, supermarkets, markets – for example, the famous 'Mercado de Tirso de Molina' –, bakeries, restaurants, bars, gyms… or schools, medical centers, banks, etc., typical of a modern and lively neighborhood. “In recent years, several movements have referred to this neighborhood as «the Madrid Brooklyn» because of the neighborhood's alternative cultural activity and its similarity to the New York neighborhood” (Wikipedia).
