The Right of the Eixample2 (in Catalan, la Dreta de l'Eixample, sometimes referred to as "Quadrat d'or") is one of the six neighborhoods that make up the Eixample district of the city of Barcelona. It houses some of the main attractions of the city, such as the Plaza de Cataluña or the Paseo de Gracia, and is one of the best examples of modernist architecture. The neighborhood extends from Balmes Street to Paseo de San Juan. The neighborhood, as it is constituted today, was built by the Catalan bourgeoisie through the acquisition of land plots and the construction of modernist and neoclassical buildings, many of which housed the residences of part of the city's upper class. The Right of the Eixample is one of the neighborhoods in Barcelona with the highest per capita income. It is composed of residents with high purchasing power, traditionally from the Catalan bourgeoisie. More recently, the neighborhood has become one of the most attractive areas for foreign investors and luxury firms.
