Tordera is a municipality belonging to the province of Barcelona. It is located to the north of Maresme, although it is true that it borders La Selva, a region of the province of Gerona, a situation that leaves this town about 35 km from Gerona and about 66 km from Ciudad Condal, Barcelona. It is the largest municipality in terms of extension in the region (even larger than the capital itself, Mataró) and is made up of a historic nucleus that begins right next to its river, the Tordera River, which flows into the Mediterranean Sea, between Malgrat de Mar and Blanes.
