The Castellana area where the estate is located is one of the most prestigious areas of Madrid, with the largest luxury shopping area such as Channel, Jimmy Choo, Omega or Louis Vuitton, the best gourmet shops, luxury hotels, exquisite restaurants, prestigious art galleries in Serrano and Velazquez, university centres such as IE and CEU, and a wide range of services that make the area a prestigious residential and commercial area. Built in the second half of the 19th century, the borough corresponds to the architectural expansion carried out under Isabell II reign. The district name derives from the forerunner José de Salamanca y Mayol, Marquis of Salamanca, who designed a new location with exquisite buildings that would host aristocrats and the bourgeoisie. With a very characteristic 19th century-style, Salamanca district is characterized by its checker-type distribution and perpendicular avenues. Salamanca historically acted as the residential area for the politic and economic elite of the country. In the past fifty years, however, this residential character coexists with other activities including business, diplomacy, and, particularly, commercial premises. The area is one of the most important fashion hubs in the capital.
