An ancient view of Ortigia

The flat is located on the first floor of an ancient building that stands right on Via delle Vergini, with a splendid view of the western sea to the left and Via Capodieci to the right. The entrance to the flat opens onto a living area which is the main room of the property. This living area has one of the three balconies overlooking via Capodieci. To its right there is a room used as a study, while to its left there is a living room leading to the kitchen. The living area leads into the property's covered veranda. Next to the kitchen is the bathroom and on the opposite side is the master bedroom. From the living room there is access to another bedroom and a storage room. The storage room used to be the second entrance to the property, in fact it used to be connected to the stairwell of the building through an opening that has now been bricked up. The flat is in need of renovation and can be divided into two separate units or used in its entirety either as a residential solution or as a tourist accommodation. The beauty of Ortigia can also be found within these articulated projects, which remind us of a time when daily life was completely different from today. We perceive it in the spacious bedrooms with vaulted ceilings, in the small balconies from which one would pull down the basket to collect bread, in the cosy rooms where it was nice to gather. Each project was gradually adapted to the different needs of social family transformation, but the history always remains imprinted in every detail, frame, and concrete. The various renovations of a property mark the passage of its different owners over time.
