Location: Lesa, Piedmont
This small municipality lies on the Piedmont shore of Lake Maggiore, in a partly hilly position overlooking the lush shores of the Lake, between Arona and Stresa. Peace and nature are the features that distinguish the town of Lesa, located a few kilometres from the renowned town of Arona. An important tourist centre, well connected to the main motorway routes, close to Malpensa and 60 km from Milan, Arona stands on the Piedmont shore of Lake Maggiore. A town with a rich history, Arona was for a long time in the hands of the wealthy and powerful Borromeo family: Saint Charles Borromeo was in fact born here, in the castle, in 1538. In the town there are many churches and squares, among which the Church of the Holy Martyrs, with its 15th-century frescoes of the Leonardesque school, and the Collegiate Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary are certainly worth remembering. Moving on to the medieval heart of the town, we discover Piazza del Popolo, with its old-world houses and the pier, on which stands a small lighthouse, a favourite place for tourists. However, the most important and fascinating monument in Arona is undoubtedly the colossal statue of Saint Charles Borromeo which, at about 35 metres high, ranks second among the tallest statues in the world that can be visited inside, surpassed only by the Statue of Liberty. Arona also offers various activities for tourists: a historic centre full of shops and restaurants, a beautiful lakeside promenade for walking, and lidos and small beaches where you can spend the warm summer days. In this wonderful historical and natural setting you can find homes for sale on Lake Maggiore
