The municipality of Mandello del Lario is located on the eastern shore of Lake Como, halfway between the pretty town of Lecco (about 10 km / 12 minutes by car) and the renowned resort of Varenna. Mandello is a town known for its scenic beauty, wide bathing beaches and for the historic ‘Moto Guzzi’ motorbike factory, one of the most famous motorbike brands, which has contributed to making the town famous throughout the world, also thanks to the ‘Moto Guzzi World Days’, an international gathering of the brand's enthusiasts that attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world. The lake, with its crystal-clear waters, is ideal for activities such as swimming, motorboating, sailing and kayaking. Boats can be hired at the equipped harbours. In addition, the area is also home to numerous hiking trails that offer spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding area: one of the most popular scenic routes is the ‘Sentiero del Viandante’. The metropolis of Milan (with the international airports of Milan Malpensa and Linate) can be reached in about one and a half hours by car (approx. 80 km), or by train on the Milan - Sondrio railway line. The Swiss city of Lugano and its regional airport are approximately one and a half hours away, while the city of Como can be reached in about one hour (40 km). Winter sports enthusiasts can take advantage of the relative proximity to the ski resorts of St. Moritz (CH), Madesimo, Bormio and Livigno, which can be reached in two to three and a half hours by car, depending on the destination. The Lake Como ferry service provides year-round ferry connections to other charming lakeside towns, such as the famous resort of Bellagio.
