On June 23, Luxembourg celebrates the birthday of the Grand Duke

This year, the festivities begin already on Saturday, June 21, to mark the 25th anniversary of Grand Duke Henri’s reign.

  • 18:00 – A formal ceremony at Place Guillaume II, attended by the Grand Ducal Family, will open the Jubilee celebrations.

  • As night falls, the Grand Ducal Palace will become the canvas for a stunning light and sound show.

  • Across the city, expect an eclectic mix of live music and DJ sets to energise public squares into the late hours.

On June 22:

The traditional eve of the National Day features the ceremonial changing of the guard, a festive torchlight procession through the capital, and an impressive fireworks display over the Adolphe Bridge.

  • 16:00 – A formal and symbolic moment in front of the Grand Ducal Palace, accompanied by the Luxembourg Military Band.

  • 21:30 – Torchlight Procession (Fakelzuch) A tradition dear to Luxembourgers, featuring 2,500 participants representing scouts, sports clubs, brass bands, and folklore groups. The parade winds through the capital and passes by the Grand Ducal Family seated at Place Guillaume II.

  • 23:00 – Fireworks Spectacular
    One of the most anticipated moments, the sky above Pont Adolphe will light up in a 17-minute firework display set to original music by Maxime Bender.

  • Live Music & Party Atmosphere

    • Place d’Armes features performances by traditional dance groups and live folk music from 19:00, followed by DJ Don Simon from 22:30 to 01:30.

    • The City Sounds Festival at Champ du Glacis and other public squares will pulse with rhythm and celebration.

    • Trees in Place d’Armes will glow in red, white, and blue, celebrating Luxembourg's national colours.


Monday, 23 June, is Luxembourg’s official National Day!

  • 10:00 – Ceremony at the Philharmonie
    A moving event with speeches by the Grand Duke, the Prime Minister, and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, featuring awards for outstanding citizens and a performance by the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra.

  • 11:15 – 21-Gun Salute
    Fired in the Grand Duke’s honour at Fetschenhof.

  • 12:15 – Military Parade on Avenue de la Liberté
    Known locally as Nei Avenue, this vibrant display

  • 16:30 – Te Deum at Notre-Dame Cathedral
    A solemn and spiritual conclusion to the day’s events, attended by the Grand Ducal Family.
