The Schueberfouer, Luxembourg’s largest and most iconic annual funfair, is set to return from Friday, August 22 to Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Champ du Glacis in the heart of Luxembourg City. Spanning over 4 hectares, the fair transforms the city center into a vibrant hub of entertainment, gastronomy, and tradition.

The fair operates daily from 12:00 PM to 1:00 AM, with restaurants opening at 11:00 AM. On the final day, Wednesday, September 10, attractions will be half-price until 8:00 PM, followed by a spectacular fireworks display at 10:00 PM on the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge.

A Celebration Since 1340

Founded in 1340 by John the Blind (Jean l’Aveugle), King of Bohemia and Count of Luxembourg, the Schueberfouer originally celebrated the Feast of St. Bartholomew on August 24th. What started as a modest eight-day market has grown into one of Luxembourg’s oldest and most beloved traditions.

From Plateau of Saint-Esprit to Champ du Glacis

The fair was initially held on the Plateau of Saint-Esprit, but as attendance grew, space quickly became an issue. It was later relocated to the Limpertsberg district, where it continued to flourish. By the 18th century, the Schueberfouer had expanded beyond market stalls — concerts, dances, and games became key parts of the festivities, turning the event into a true cultural celebration.

In 1849, the fair introduced its first rides, adding a thrilling new dimension for visitors. Urban growth in Limpertsberg led to another move in 1893, establishing the fair at its current home on the Glacis.

Modern-Day Fun for Everyone

Today, the Schueberfouer is a spectacular celebration of rides, games, food, and drinks, attracting millions of visitors every year. Whether you’re seeking adrenaline-pumping attractions, delicious treats, or a chance to immerse yourself in centuries of tradition, the Schueberfouer promises an unforgettable experience for all ages.
