We are very proud to be so integrated to Mallorcan culture and form part of the day to day local society. For many years we have been very pleased to be sponsoring the local football team in Alaró, Unió Esportiva d’Alaró. A team with a rich history and deep rots with the culture of the village.
Alaró, was one of the first villages in Mallorca to get football fever back in the in 1910. The town was going through a period of strong industrial boom and a large number of factories and workshops provided work for a large part of the population. In the breaks the workers would play matches against one and others.
Various teams of friends would compete in the town, one of those teams was led by Llorenç Martorell, known as the black vicar, who in 1920 bought a big plot of olive groves in the area of Platers de Son Fortesa, and there he built the first official football pitch in the town. The team of the Congregació, linked to the parish, played there, but soon after two new teams emerged: L’universal (working class society of young socialists) and l'Isleño. All three clubs had their own pitch in the same area of Alaró.
During the Civil War the teams stopped their matches but after the war ended the three teams joint up together and formed the Club Deportivo de Alaró. But over the years, the team abandoned its activities and until 1949 a group of young people started the club again and asked the rector to recover the old football field.
In the 1960s, the club was renamed Atlètic Deportivo Alaró, and later to Unión Deportivo Alaró, its current club name, and the uniform was and still is completely in white. The UE Alaró team achieved promotion to the 3rd national division in 1958, 1983, 2004 and 2014.
You can start playing and training in this team as young as 5 years old. A very common age to start playing football in Mallorca so that is the reason that many locals of the area have grown up playing in this iconic history rich football team.
