Frigiliana is a municipality in the province of Málaga, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, situated in the Axarquía region – the easternmost part of the province – and forming part of the judicial district of Torrox. This charming white village stands out for its beauty and uniqueness, having been the first in the province to be awarded, in 2015, the title of one of Spain’s Most Beautiful Villages. The heart of Frigiliana is its old town, known as the Barribarto, which has been declared a Historic-Artistic Site as it represents one of the purest examples of Arab architectural heritage in the region. Its narrow, cobbled streets, adorned with flowers and white façades, create a unique atmosphere that attracts visitors all year round. In addition to its rich history, Frigiliana offers an interesting blend of traditional flavours and local crafts, reflecting its cultural identity. The town’s shops are mainly craft-based and are concentrated on Calle Real and Calle San Sebastián, where you will also find supermarkets, pharmacies and shops selling everyday essentials to meet the needs of residents and visitors alike. In terms of access, Frigiliana is well connected: from Málaga, it can be reached by car in approximately 50 minutes, or you can take a bus to Nerja and, from there, change to a local bus that goes directly to the town. All this makes Frigiliana an accessible and attractive destination on the Costa del Sol.
